A more cost effective way to stay in Courchevel, 1550 is only a short gondola or chair ride away from the extensive ski area of 1850. The resort has rebranded itself "Courchevel Village" but everyone we come across still calls it "1550"! Generally it's accommodation and restaurants are much cheaper than it's higher neighbour. For beginners there are plenty of easy runs on the lower slopes just above 1850. The prime reason for most choosing 1550 is the price, but once you have experienced the quiet village atmosphere and value for money, the cost saving becomes secondary. The village is bypassed by the main road and doesn't suffer from the intrusion of through traffic. There are a number of operators with smaller chalets in 1550, and there is the larger chalet hotel Chanrossa which is in an ideal position for the lifts and slopes. The apres ski is lively and great value for money. The bus service is regular and runs until 1.00am.
Access to the three valleys ski area is quick and simple with the Tovets chair and the Grangettes Telecabine arriving in 1850 centre.
